What is the I Heart Design Contest?

The Dering Hall I Heart Design contest allows design professionals and enthusiasts to exercise their creativity for a chance to win a world-class feature on Dering Hall.   Participants will design a living room using the premium furniture and accessories on Dering Hall.  

When does the contest start?

The contest kicks off Monday, August 20.  

When does the contest end?

Dering Hall will be accepting entries until midnight Pacific time on September 10, 2018.  

How do I enter?

To enter, create a folder of items on the Dering Hall website.  Detailed instructions are laid out here.  Email that folder to marketing@deringhall.com to enter.  In the body of the email, include your name and email so we can contact you if you are a finalist or the grand prize winner. 

How do I win the contest?

The editorial team will choose five finalist from all the submissions.  Those finalists will work with Dering Hall's marketing team to create a replica of a room using the selected products.  Those rooms and the designers behind them will be promoted by Dering Hall where readers, visitors, members, and the larger Dering Hall community will have the chance to vote on their favorite.  The room that gets the most votes will be the grand prize winner.

What do I win?

The winner receives an in-depth, world-class feature written by the team at Dering Hall.  The article will feature you and your work and will be promoted on the Dering Hall website, e-newsletter (180,000 opt-in subscribers), social media channels, and our extensive syndication network.  A sponsored content article is valued at over $5,000.

What is the room we're decorating?

The room is a living room.   There is one standard door as an entry point and four windows.   

What is the size of the room?

The dimensions are 24' across in a perfect square.

How will you know where to place the items?

If you are a finalist, our marketing team will work with you to determine where to place the items so your vision is realized.  

Are there budget restrictions?

No.  For the purpose of this contest, the budget is unlimited.

Do you have to be a Dering Hall member to enter?

No.  You don't have to be a Dering Hall member to enter.  Anyone can enter to win.  

Do you have to be an interior designer to enter?

No.  You do not have to be a professional interior designer to enter.  Anyone can enter to win.

How many items can I choose for the room?  Is there a minimum or maximum number of items?

You can choose up to 20 items for the room.  

Can I submit more than one room to increase my chances of winning?

You can absolutely submit more than one time.  There is no limit to how many submissions you can make.

What if I have problems collecting my items or emailing my folder?

If you run into problems, you can email or call the Dering Hall marketing department.  Email marketing@deringhall.com or call (917) 512-6898 with questions.

When I submit will I receive a confirmation?

Yes.  You will receive a confirmation email that we received your submission within 24 hours.  

Are there any guidelines to the style of the room?  Contemporary?  Traditional?

No.  There are no style guidelines.

Are there prizes for the finalists?

The finalists will get additional promotion through Dering Hall as we encourage people to vote on their favorite design.  

How will the editorial team pick the five finalists?

The team will choose the finalists in part based on what you say about the room (your inspiration, etc.) and the finished design of your collection.  You can include your inspiration or any other insights in the body of the email you end when you submit the folder to marketing@deringhall.com.
